Dick's Book

Turkey 1967-1969 A Peace Corps Experience

I started writing this book 30 years ago on a Burroughs mainframe. The text was based on the letters I had written home, supplemented with entries from the diary that I kept while I was in Turkey. I stopped when I reached the end of the first academic year. I couldn't decide how to describe the fairly disastrous second year. I had written very few letters home (no news seemed better than bad news), and I hadn't done a very good job of keeping up my diary either.

With the encouragement of family and friends, I have started rewriting the book. With the improvements in desktop computing, I am able to add pictures to the narrative, which should make it easier to look at.

It is definitely still a work in progress. I have outlined eight chapters and still have three to go.
